A woman was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash on Trinity Avenue near Ninth Street in Chowchilla on Monday, April 7, 2025.
According to the Chowchilla Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area following reports of a possible hit-and-run. Upon arrival, a 49-year-old woman from Chowchilla was found lying in the roadway.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver had fled before officers arrived but later returned and was taken into custody.
Investigators arrested 21-year-old Josue Vasquez and booked him into the Madera County Jail on multiple felony charges.
Authorities believe speed and impairment may have contributed to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
