A 23-year-old man was killed, and another man sustained major injuries after they were struck by a vehicle while crossing Main Street in Santa Maria early Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the two men were walking outside a crosswalk when they were hit around 5:00 a.m.
One of the victims succumbed to his injuries, while the other was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Their identities have not been released.
Authorities stated that the female driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
