Two people were killed in a fiery crash involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 168 in southeast Fresno early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. near McKinley Avenue.
Authorities had received multiple calls about a wrong-way driver traveling on Highway 168 from Herndon to McKinley. CHP units responded in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
Shortly after, officials received a report that the vehicle, a 2005 Volvo, had crashed and was engulfed in flames on McKinley Avenue.
CHP Sergeant Elvis Reynoso stated that officers were unable to reach the vehicle before the crash. By the time they arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed, preventing them from extricating the victims.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
