[02-20-2025] El Dorado County, CA – One Killed, Three Injured After Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Semi-Truck on Green Valley Road

One person was killed, and three others were injured after a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on Green Valley Road at Francisco Drive in El Dorado Hills, El Dorado County, on Thursday evening, February 20, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a Peterbilt semi-truck hauling an excavator on a flatbed trailer was traveling west on Green Valley Road when it crossed into the eastbound lane at Francisco Drive for unknown reasons. The truck collided with oncoming traffic before veering off the roadway approximately 30 feet.

The crash involved a Tesla Model Y, a Hyundai Elantra, and a Toyota Tundra. The driver and passenger of the Tesla Model Y and the driver of the Hyundai Elantra sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The Toyota Tundra also sustained minor damage. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as a 48-year-old man from Weimer, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The impact caused the semi-truck to release diesel fuel, some of which reached a nearby creek. However, officials reported no impact on Folsom Lake or Browns Ravine, and no harm to wildlife was observed.

CHP officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
