Two people were hospitalized after being injured in a pedestrian crash at Powerhouse Park along Coast Boulevard in Del Mar, on Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2025.

According to a report by San Diego Sheriff deputies, an elderly man was driving his car but accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, leading to his vehicle jumping a curb and getting into the crowded park around 2:15 p.m. 

Witnesses say they heard a sign crack, then screams, as individuals rolled out of the way. 

Lifeguards, sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters responded to the scene. Authorities have not released any additional information about the driver at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
