A collision involving a big rig and a sedan shut down four westbound lanes of the Ventura (101) Freeway near Encino, Los Angeles, on Tuesday morning, December 24, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at approximately 5:18 a.m. near Hayvenhurst Avenue.
The trailer of the big rig separated from the tractor and came to rest against the center divider, leaving the truck in the center lanes. The sedan involved sustained significant damage to its left rear.
A SigAlert was issued at around 5:30 a.m. to assist with clearing the wreckage and cleaning up a diesel spill resulting from the crash.
Details regarding injuries were not specified, though the incident was classified as an injury collision.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
