[12-21-2024] 31-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle on Decoto Road in FremontA 31-year-old man from Hayward was fatally struck by a vehicle on Decoto Road near Brookmill Drive in Fremont early Saturday morning, December 21, 2024.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Decoto Road struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the site of the collision and is cooperating with authorities.

A preliminary investigation determined that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
