A driver was killed after a collision involving a propane truck near Auburn early Monday morning, December 23, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:00 a.m. on Highway 49 near Joerger Road.
Authorities stated that a Pontiac Firebird traveling northbound on Highway 49 lost control and collided head-on with a propane truck traveling at approximately 55 mph.
The driver of the Pontiac succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the propane truck driver was unharmed.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver.
The investigation is ongoing.
