A 30-year-old passenger was killed, and a driver was arrested following a single-vehicle crash on Parkville Road at Ash Creek in Shasta County, on Friday evening, December 20, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:38 p.m. when 33-year-old Eufemio G. of Shingletown lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The truck veered off the road onto a dirt shoulder, struck a guardrail, slid down an embankment, and overturned in Ash Creek.
The driver was able to escape the vehicle, but a 30-year-old male passenger in the rear seat was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at Shasta Regional Medical Center before being arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The identity of the deceased passenger is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation.
