[12-20-2024] 51-Year-Old Woman Killed After Wrong-Way DUI Crash on Highway 86 in MeccaA 51-year-old woman was killed, and two others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 86 near 66th Avenue in Mecca, Riverside County, on Friday night, December 20, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. when a black Chrysler traveling on the wrong side of the highway collided head-on with a white Honda Civic. The driver of the Honda, identified as Shuru Z., 51, of La Puente, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. He sustained minor injuries, and his 18-year-old female passenger was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the CHP.
