A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway 160 in Sacramento on Tuesday night, December 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. north of Scribner Road.
Authorities stated that a 33-year-old man driving a GMC SUV reported noticing a black object in the southbound lane before feeling his passenger mirror strike something. Upon stopping, the driver discovered an unconscious man lying in the roadway.
The driver, along with a passerby, immediately called 911 and performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The man did not have any identification on him, and authorities are working to confirm his identity.
CHP is actively investigating the circumstances of the collision.
