[12-13-2024] Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle at Glenn Avenue and 23rd StreetA man riding a bicycle was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Merced on Friday night, December 13, 2024.

According to the Merced Police Department, the incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. The bicyclist was traveling westbound on 23rd Street alongside a vehicle. When the vehicle came to a stop, the bicyclist continued through the intersection, where he was struck by another vehicle heading northbound on Glenn Avenue.

Responding officers found the bicyclist in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The identity of the bicyclist has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation.
