A person was killed after a hit-and-run collision in Phelan, San Bernardino County, on Monday afternoon, December 16, 2024.
According to law enforcement, the deadly crash occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Phelan and Windermere Roads.
Minutes later, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol officials located a possible suspect vehicle. Following a brief pursuit, the fleeing vehicle was stopped using a PIT maneuver near Capelin and Mesquite Roads.
The suspect was subsequently detained, CHP officials confirmed. The scene remained active Monday evening as firefighters worked to extricate the victim’s body from the wreckage.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
