A 66-year-old San Jose man was killed, and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision near Stevens Creek Boulevard and Tyler Street in Santa Clara on Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2024.
According to Santa Clara police Lt. Mike Crescini, the crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. when a 20-year-old San Jose man was speeding westbound on Stevens Creek Boulevard in a pickup truck. The truck collided with an SUV making a left turn from eastbound Stevens Creek Boulevard into a driveway.
Upon arrival, officers found the SUV driver, a 66-year-old San Jose man, on the ground. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The SUV passenger, a 65-year-old San Jose woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.
The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured, but his passenger, a 19-year-old San Jose man, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing.
