A 56-year-old pedestrian sustained critical injuries after being struck by an SUV on Wooley Road near Donlon Avenue in Oxnard on Sunday morning, December 8, 2024.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. as the man was crossing Wooley Road in an area not intended for pedestrian use, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
One vehicle traveling eastbound stopped to avoid hitting the man, but an SUV driven by a 35-year-old Oxnard man was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrian.
Both vehicles stopped at the scene, and the drivers cooperated with the investigation. Police stated that neither speed nor impairment appeared to be a factor in the collision.
Medical personnel provided aid at the scene before transporting the pedestrian to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
