[12-03-2024] Child Injured in SUV Collision Outside Garfield Elementary School in ClovisA child was injured after being struck by an SUV outside Garfield Elementary School in Clovis on Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2024.

According to the Clovis Police Department, officers responded to the area of Peach Avenue and Nees Avenue around 4:00 p.m. for a traffic collision involving a minor.

The child, who was riding a bicycle and wearing a helmet, was in the crosswalk when the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe struck the child while making a right turn.

The child sustained minor injuries and was handed over to a parent at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe remained at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
