[12-02-2024] Vehicle Plunges Off Cliff After Crash on West Cliff Drive, One Victim AirliftedA vehicle plunged off a cliff into the ocean after a collision near West Cliff Drive and Swift Street in Santa Cruz on Monday, December 2, 2024.

According to Santa Cruz police, the incident was reported around 11:21 a.m. The vehicle collided with another car before going over the cliff and landing in the water.

Two bystanders immediately jumped into the ocean to assist the victim. Santa Cruz Fire rescue swimmers arrived shortly after and transferred the individual to a harbor patrol vessel.

Santa Cruz Fire Chief Rob Oatey confirmed that the victim was airlifted to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment.

No other victims were reported in the crash. The circumstances leading to the collision are under investigation by authorities.
