Minor injuries were reported following a collision involving a horse trailer on Highway 101 near Paso Robles on Thursday night, November 21, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Wellsona Road.
Authorities stated that a 47-year-old Arizona man driving a Ford F-450 towing a horse trailer was heading eastbound on Wellsona Road when he crossed into the southbound lanes.
A 37-year-old driver from Gonzales was unable to stop his Dodge Ram 1500 in time, resulting in the front of the pickup colliding with the side of the horse trailer.
CHP confirmed that all occupants involved were wearing seatbelts, and only minor injuries were reported. A horse in the trailer may have sustained injuries, though additional details on its condition were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation, but officers stated that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident.
