According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. along US-101 south of Humboldt Road.

Robert R., driving a Ford Transit Van northbound on US-101, struck the pedestrian, who was either walking or riding a bicycle along the highway shoulder. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities stated that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the family is notified.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
