A man was killed, and a woman sustained minor injuries after a fiery single-vehicle crash in Redondo Beach late Wednesday night, November 20, 2024.
According to Redondo Beach Police Lt. Mark Valdivia, the crash occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m. at the intersection of Palos Verdes Boulevard and South Catalina Avenue.
The vehicle struck a light pole and caught fire shortly after the collision. Redondo Beach Fire Department personnel extinguished the flames. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female passenger was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Authorities are investigating the factors that contributed to the collision.
