A man died after an off-road vehicle he was riding in overturned near the 11000 block of Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2024.
Bakersfield Police Department officers were dispatched at around 2:11 p.m. to the foothills east of the road.
Upon arrival, they found the man with major injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to BPD, the four-seat off-road vehicle was traveling north up a hill on undeveloped private property when it struck a rut in the dirt and overturned. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
BPD has confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The man’s identity has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
