A pedestrian was fatally struck by two vehicles on Interstate 5 in Redding early Sunday morning, November 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. near the northbound off-ramp at Cypress Avenue.
Authorities stated that a 24-year-old man ran across the freeway in front of a 2024 Ford Fiesta exiting the freeway, and the vehicle struck him with its front left and windshield, causing fatal injuries.
After the initial impact, another vehicle, a 2012 Ford, struck the pedestrian as he lay in the road.
The Shasta County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the identity of the deceased.
The CHP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
