A two-year-old passenger was killed after a crash in Northwest Bakersfield on Saturday evening, November 16, 2024.
The collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Brimhall Road and Jenkins Road, involving a red Honda traveling westbound and a red Chevrolet traveling northbound.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the two-year-old, who was in the Chevrolet, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers, who were not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Excessive speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. The intersection is controlled by stop signs in all four directions, with posted speed limits of 50 mph on Brimhall Road and 45 mph on Jenkins Road.
The investigation is ongoing.
