A 59-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oildale, Kern County, on Tuesday night, November 5, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:16 p.m. on Olive Drive, west of Airport Drive.
A 2005 Toyota Tacoma was traveling eastbound in the number two lane when the pedestrian reportedly crossed southbound across Olive Drive outside of a marked crosswalk.
Due to the darkness and lack of street lighting in the area, the Toyota driver was unable to see the pedestrian in time to avoid the collision. The vehicle’s front end struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota remained on-site and cooperated with authorities. The eastbound number two lane of Olive Drive was temporarily closed for about two hours to allow for investigation.
CHP reported that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this incident.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
