[11-07-2024] Minor Injuries Reported Following Collision on San Bernardino Freeway in PomonaA wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after causing a collision that resulted in minor injuries to both the driver and a civilian on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Pomona on Thursday morning, November 7, 2024.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, the incident began around 2:24 a.m. when dispatch received reports of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes near Milliken Avenue.

Multiple CHP units from Rancho Cucamonga and Baldwin Park were dispatched to intercept the driver, who continued to create a dangerous situation for oncoming traffic. CHP officers set up a controlled traffic break on eastbound I-10, east of SR-57, where they identified the wrong-way vehicle. 

Officers used their patrol vehicle to intentionally collide with the wrong-way driver’s vehicle, causing it to spin out. The wrong-way vehicle then struck another civilian vehicle before coming to a stop.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Pomona, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Both the wrong-way driver and the CHP officers involved reported minor injuries and were treated at a local medical clinic.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to be cautious of impaired drivers on the roads.
