A truck driver was injured after a trailer overturned on Highway 99 in Sutter County, spilling a load of walnuts and leading to a full road closure on Saturday morning, October 26, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a southbound semi-truck attempted to avoid a passenger car pulling out from O’Banion Road, resulting in a sideswipe collision. The trailer flipped onto its side across the northbound lanes, spilling walnuts over the highway.
The truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. CHP confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the incident.
CalTrans officials closed both directions of SR 99 at O’Banion Road, diverting northbound traffic from Highway 113 to Garden Highway and southbound traffic at O’Banion.
The investigation is ongoing.
