Two people lost their lives after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer in California City on Wednesday afternoon, October 23, 2024.
California City Police Department officers were dispatched around 4:40 p.m. to the 9500 block of California City Boulevard following reports of a crash involving a small SUV and a tractor-trailer.
Upon arrival, officers found a Subaru Outback pinned beneath the trailer. The California City Fire Department and Hall Ambulance confirmed both adult occupants of the SUV were deceased at the scene.
An investigation indicated that the tractor-trailer was backing into the Family Dollar parking lot for deliveries when the Subaru, traveling westbound, struck the left side of the trailer.
The California Highway Patrol was called to assist in the investigation due to the severity of the crash, though drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors at this time.
The victims’ identities are being withheld pending family notification. No further details were immediately available.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
