[10-19-2024] One Killed, Five Injured After Suspected DUI Crash Near Orange CoveA man is dead, and five others are hospitalized following a suspected DUI crash near Orange Cove on Saturday night, October 19, 2024.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident at Manning and Hill Avenues just after 11:00 p.m. 

Officers reported that a man and woman were stopped at a stop sign on Manning when a 24-year-old man driving behind them failed to slow down, colliding with the back of their car, which subsequently caught fire.

The driver of the stopped car died from his injuries, while the woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 24-year-old driver then crashed into a second vehicle containing two people, who are expected to be okay.

The 24-year-old suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Authorities stated that three other men were in his car and also taken to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
