[10-17-2024] Woman Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Crash on South Bay Boulevard Near Morro BayA woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash sent both cars tumbling off the road near Morro Bay on Thursday afternoon, October 17, 2024.

The collision occurred at around 2:58 p.m. when the woman, driving a sedan northbound on South Bay Boulevard, attempted to turn left onto State Parks Road. 

Authorities stated that she crossed into the path of a southbound pickup truck towing a trailer full of gravel, Morro Bay Police Sgt. Grant Hasselbach told The Tribune. The truck struck the passenger side of her sedan, pushing it into a ravine before tumbling off the roadway as well.

The driver of the sedan sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital. Authorities noted that this intersection had experienced a similar collision the previous week and remains a concern for traffic safety.

The investigation is ongoing.
