[10-15-2024] 22-Year-Old Woman Killed After Suspected DUI Head-On Collision on SR-99A 22-year-old woman from Chico was killed in a tragic head-on collision on State Route 99 in Tehama County on Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 1:48 p.m., Andre T., 43, of Chico, was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition southbound on SR-99 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. 

The Ford crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a 2015 Honda Accord driven by 56-year-old Mirna R. of Gerber. The Ford then struck a 2012 Toyota Prius head-on, driven by the 22-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mirna R. sustained minor injuries and was transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. Andre T. was arrested at the scene and taken to Enloe Medical Center for medical clearance before being booked into Tehama County Jail. He faces charges of DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and alcohol and drugs are suspected to be contributing factors.
