At least one person sustained major injuries and required extrication efforts by emergency responders after a multi-vehicle crash in Fairfield on early Saturday morning, October 12, 2024.
According to the Fairfield Fire Department, personnel were dispatched to the scene around 4:00 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80 near Travis Boulevard and reported the accident involved multiple vehicles.
While initial details did not specify the number of injured, the California Highway Patrol later confirmed that six vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in one individual with major injuries being transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities stated that DUI was not suspected as a factor in the accident, and no arrests were made.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
