A man on a mobility scooter sustained serious injuries after being struck by a van in a Berkeley crosswalk on Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2024.
The collision occurred around 3:10 p.m., with Berkeley police reporting that a 90-year-old driver from Berkeley was heading southbound on Adeline Street in a van when he struck a 51-year-old man in a crosswalk at Russell Street.
The Berkeley Police Department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to investigate the serious injury collision.
The pedestrian was reportedly found by Berkeley police with head injuries and possible leg fractures. He was transported to Highland Hospital for medical treatment. The driver was also reportedly taken to the hospital, though details remain unconfirmed.
