A 72-year-old man was killed while walking in a marked crosswalk in San Diego on Wednesday evening, October 2, 2024.
The collision occurred at 7:25 p.m. on Clairemont Drive in the Torrey Pines neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The driver, a 76-year-old woman reported that she had the green light and claimed the pedestrian stepped out in front of her vehicle before being struck.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and neither the driver nor the pedestrian has been immediately identified.
The SDPD Traffic Division officers are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
