One person was killed, and another is in critical condition after a two-vehicle DUI crash in east Bakersfield on Saturday night, September 28, 2024.
The Bakersfield Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at approximately 11:14 p.m. on East Truxtun Avenue.
Authorities stated that a Dodge Durango traveling westbound slammed into a parked car on the north curb of the 1200 block. The driver of the parked vehicle was killed, while the passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to BPD.
Security officers working nearby detained the Dodge Durango driver, who was uninjured until law enforcement arrived.
Police indicated that speed and alcohol were possible contributing factors in the collision. The identity of the deceased victim will be released later by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
