A driver was killed after a fiery collision with a tractor-trailer in Tehama County on Friday afternoon, September 6, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 2:20 p.m. on State Route 36, west of Paynes Creek.
CHP officials said a male driver in a Nissan was traveling eastbound when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a tractor-trailer driven by another male.
CHP reported that the tractor-trailer driver attempted to avoid the crash, but the two vehicles collided and caught fire.
The Nissan driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the tractor-trailer driver did not sustain any injuries.
