A 21-year-old man died and several others were injured after a three-vehicle DUI crash on West Main, just west of Hanson Way, in Santa Maria, late Saturday night, September 7, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Nissan Kick when he crossed double yellow lines and swerved into the left turn lane, colliding with a 2016 Dodge Journey carrying three passengers, including an infant.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupants of the Dodge sustained moderate and minor injuries and were transported to a hospital by ambulance. Three additional individuals involved declined treatment at the scene.
Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the crash, which closed Highway 166 for several hours.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
