A 35-year-old woman was killed, and a passenger was injured after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in San Joaquin County on Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. when the driver of a Buick lost control while making a turn near Cherokee Road.
The vehicle veered off the dirt shoulder, collided with a chain-link fence, and struck equipment stored at a demolition contractor off the highway.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
CHP stated that it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
