[08-27-2024] Kern County, CA – Two Rescued After Car Tumbles Down Slope on Highway 58, One Person Hospitalized

Two people were rescued after their car tumbled down a steep slope off westbound Highway 58, just one mile east of General Beale Road, in Kern County on August 27, 2024.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, firefighters arrived at the scene to find the vehicle at the bottom of the slope. Two individuals were already out of the car with a CHP officer, and one of them was considered a priority due to major injuries.

Firefighters assessed the situation and provided medical care before establishing a rope rescue system to haul the individuals back up to the highway.

A team of four firefighters was lowered into the slope, secured the priority patient, and carefully hauled them up the hill. The patient was then placed in an ambulance and transported to a hospital.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. There is no additional information immediately available.
