[08-30-2024] Woman Killed After Head-On Collision with Big Rig on Avenue 12A woman was killed following a head-on collision with a big rig in Madera County on Friday morning, August 30, 2024.

According to Madera-area California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Avenue 12 near Riverstone Boulevard. 

A maroon Chrysler was traveling westbound ahead of the big rig and stopped to make a left turn onto Riverstone Boulevard. For reasons unknown, the big rig failed to stop, rear-ending the Chrysler and then crashing head-on with a white Nissan Altima.

The woman driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the maroon Chrysler was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for evaluation and treatment. The driver of the big rig sustained no injuries.

Authorities stated that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in this crash.

The identities of those involved have not been officially released. There is no additional information immediately available.
