A 19-year-old man, identified as Justo E., was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Salinas early Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported just after 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Russell and Harrison roads.
Authorities stated that a Honda SUV was traveling north on Main Street toward the intersection, while a Lexus sedan was heading south on Harrison Road. The vehicles collided when the Lexus attempted to make a left turn onto Russell Road for reasons still under investigation.
The 19-year-old was a passenger in the front seat of the Lexus and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lexus driver, a 27-year-old man from Salinas, was uninjured.
The Honda’s driver, a 42-year-old Salinas woman, sustained minor injuries but declined medical transport.
