Two people were killed and another was injured when a van veered off the Martin Luther King Jr. (94) Freeway in Spring Valley near La Mesa on Saturday evening, August 24, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:14 p.m. on the westbound 94 at the Bancroft Drive on-ramp.
Witnesses reported that the light-colored van veered off the freeway and struck a light pole, causing the vehicle to emit smoke.
Firefighters from the San Miguel Fire Department responded to the scene, where they confirmed that two occupants of the van had died. Another individual was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
