A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run collision while crossing Hillard at Rails to Trails, in Kern County on Sunday afternoon, August 18, 2024.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when the motorcyclist riding a dirt bike eastbound at an unknown speed in the Rails to Trails crosswalk just south of Riverwalk was struck by a southbound SUV.
According to Sgt. Corey Beilby, the motorcyclist sustained minor to moderate injuries but declined ambulance transport at the scene.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene before officers arrived. The suspect vehicle is described as a red or maroon SUV, possibly a Chevrolet.
