[08-19-2024] Woman Killed, Another Injured After Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Crash on Chestnut AvenueA woman was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Fresno early Monday morning, August 19, 2024.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 12:22 a.m. at the intersection of Chestnut and University Avenues.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a white truck and an SUV involved in the fatal crash. The white truck was traveling north on Chestnut Avenue from McKinley when it collided with an SUV that was preparing to make a northbound turn onto Chestnut.

The driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to her injuries, while her passenger sustained injuries. The driver of the truck fled the scene on foot but was later detained, according to Fresno Police Lt. Leslie Williams.

Officers are investigating whether alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors in the collision.
