A 31-year-old homeless man died after being struck by a pickup truck on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, near Sycuan Casino in El Cajon.

Preliminary reports indicate that the decedent was standing in the westbound lane of Dehesa Road when he was struck by a westbound Nissan pickup truck. The driver of the truck immediately stopped and called 911. Law enforcement and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene.

Paramedics arrived and transported the injured man to Sharp Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. Despite receiving medical treatment upon arrival, his condition continued to decline, and he was later pronounced dead by medical staff.

The incident is under investigation as authorities work to gather more information.
