A female pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash in Imperial Beach late Wednesday evening, August 14, 2024.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal crash occurred around 11: 00 p.m. in the 1100 block of Connecticut Street, near Imperial Beach Boulevard.
Deputies arrived at the scene to find a female pedestrian lying on the ground with severe injuries. Despite the life-saving efforts of paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
Sheriff’s officials reported that witnesses saw a red Chevrolet Camaro with a black racing pinstripe leaving the area shortly after the collision. With the assistance of the sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter, deputies located the suspected vehicle in the 700 block of Oneonta Avenue.
The driver, identified as 62-year-old Eric C., was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail. He faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, felony driving under the influence with injury, and felony hit-and-run with great bodily injury or death.
