A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Imperial on early Monday morning, August 5, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred on Interstate 8 near Dunaway Road.

Authorities stated that a 37-year-old man from Ramona was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Interstate 8. At the same time, a 51-year-old man was driving a Ford F450 truck in the same direction.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Ford F450 failed to see the motorcyclist and collided with him. Despite wearing a helmet, the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP reported that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are currently available.
