A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Chico on Monday afternoon, August 5, 2024.
According to the Chico Police Department, the collision happened around 2:46 p.m. on East 3rd Avenue and Mangrove Avenue.
Preliminary investigations suggested that a driver of an unspecified vehicle, for some reason, allowed their vehicle to veer into an oncoming lane of traffic before hitting the pedestrian near the intersection. The vehicle then slammed into a nearby city traffic signal and only came to rest in front of a neighboring business.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim with major injuries and quickly transported them to a local hospital for immediate medical care. The victim, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, was listed in critical condition. It is still unclear what they were doing along the roadway before the accident.
CPD believes that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the incident. They then confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained on the scene and cooperated fully.
Potential witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the police immediately and help determine the accident’s circumstances.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
