[08-01-2024] Sonoma County, CA – 33-Year-Old Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Vehicle in Santa Rosa

A 33-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in southwest Santa Rosa on Thursday night, August 1, 2024. 

According to the responding officers, the crash happened at about 9:42 p.m. on Hearn Avenue at the SMART tracks. 

Authorities stated that a pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when they were struck by a white 2014 Lexus IS250 traveling west on Hearn. The vehicle stopped for a while after the collision, but no one got out to help the victim. The driver drove away from the crash site and left the pedestrian on the roadway.

Upon arrival, the responding officials found the victim unconscious on the ground. The pedestrian sustained a severe head injury and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Their identity was withheld pending the notification of the next of kin. 

Officers had access to surveillance camera footage that displayed the car’s license plate. Alejandra V., a 19-year-old driver, was recognized shortly after they ascertained the registered address of the vehicle. She was charged with a felony hit-and-run that resulted in serious injury. 

More information regarding the incident will be released. Investigations are ongoing.
