Six people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle head-on collision in San Diego on Friday afternoon, August 2, 2024.
According to the responding officials, the crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. in the 6100 block of Carroll Road near the intersection with Pacific Heights Boulevard in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood.
The incident involved a Toyota SUV with a lone driver inside and a sedan occupied by five people. A witness claimed that one of the vehicles was part of a funeral procession to the cemetery.
All six people involved were hospitalized. Four were taken to Scripps La Jolla, while the other two were sent to Sharp Memorial. It is said that the driver of the Toyota and one of the occupants of the SUV suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The identities of the patients and their current conditions were not provided.
Initial investigations suggested that speed may have contributed to the incident. The authorities are still investigating the official cause.
Other motorists are advised to avoid the area as much as possible.
