At least one person was killed following a vehicle vs. big rig collision in El Granada, San Mateo County, on Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. along State Route 1, north of Capistrano Road.

CHP stated that the crash involved a big rig and a sedan. It was later confirmed that at least one person had died as a result. It is not immediately known whether the deceased was the sedan or truck driver. No other injuries were reported at this time.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. Drugs, alcohol, and speeding are currently being investigated as possible factors.
